Product Description The Tudors presents the rarely dramatized, tumultuous early years of King Henry VIII’s nearly 40 year, omnipotent reign (1509-1547). In addition to his famous female consorts and 20+ year marriage to Catherine of Aragon to the infamous dalliance with Anne Boleyn, the series delves in to Henry’s most notable political relationship and the deconstruction of the Roman Catholic Church in England.

I love the show.....where is the blu ray release? It is the new standard. September 1, 2010 J S. I (Intermountain Northwest) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Where is the blu ray release? We shouldn't have to wait anymore when new things come out for them to be on Blu ray. I don't buy dvd's unless I think they will never release something on Blu ray. You can't tell me new shows can't be released on Blu ray right from the start. I will wait for the Blu ray release no matter how much I want to see it. Keep your dvd release.

I was truely wanting to see the series because of the history. Instead, we were presented with an unclad JRM in many sceens with his partner of the mnoment. I kept expecting to see him prancing through in spike heels and a black boa. Surely there other actors with more integrity and depth to portray Henry in a more realistic manner?

Pathetic August 24, 2010 Pedro Fernandes (Lisboa, Portugal) 2 out of 17 found this review helpful
Sorry but this drama soap opera is aimed mainly at an American viewer who have absolutely no knowledge of English and european history. To choose a top model as Henry VIII is pathetic - the king was a baloon with an ulcerated leg (which smelled as roten meat!). More, Henry is portrayed as the most powerful king in Europe. That is not true. Charles I of Spain (Emperor Charles V of the Holy Empire), the king of France, the king of Portugal, the Italian princes, even the kings of central Europe were more important. England transforms itself in a European and world power with Elizabeth I his daughter from Ann Boleyn.
historical inaccuracies not the point August 19, 2010 Lindarae Shearer (Alaska) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have read many histories of the Tudor era and find that the series was mostly accurate. But accuracy was not the entire consideration in creating this series. The magnificence, the beautiful acting by everyone. . .can't you see how incredible it all was. Whoever is responsible for creating this show could rest easy for the rest of his/her life, if it were up to me. I would say "Well done. No. Exceedingly well done!" I enjoyed every single minute, every second of this series and have watched every episode many times. It is a masterful piece and will never succumb to comments of those who don't know what they're talking about. and as for histories? One who studies histories should know that they're all different, according to who writes them. So what? Give them credit for entertaining.
Response to reviews of TUDORS August 16, 2010 G. Albert (Louisiana) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am an avid Tudor student, have been for 35 years. I loved the series. I think having JRM appear as a brunette Henry was sheer genius, one could focus on the actor's portrayal of Henry without being distracted by all the old portrayals of him with red hair and beard. JRM allowed us to get inside Henry's head and learn him from the inside out. To clear up a few misconceptions I have just read in reviews:
br /
br / The Earl of Surrey (Henry Howard) was, indeed, Katherine Howard's uncle.
br /
br /Lady Rochford was Jane Parker who became Jane Boleyn. Rochford was a title name.
br /
br /Also, it was Henry's sister Mary who married the King of Portugal. Later she wed Charles Brandon. Henry's sister, Margaret, actually married the King of Scotland and they became the parents of Mary Stuart.Margaret was Queen Regent of Scotland during Mary and her brother's minorities.
br /
br /Historical accuracies may have been forfeited for dramatic license; it doesn't matter to anyone who has read the real history.
br /
br /I look forward to the DVD which is on pre-order now.
